Learn to drive on Sunderland’s roads
Your lessons will be planned around your experience and confidence. If you’re a beginner, we’ll start with the basics, including clutch control, moving off, stopping safely and approaching junctions.
As you progress, you’ll gain experience on a wider range of Sunderland roads. This can include dealing with parked vehicles on residential streets, driving along the coast around Roker and Seaburn, and handling busier routes such as Wessington Way.
We’ll also build your understanding of lane choice and spiral roundabouts, including challenging locations such as Hastings Hill and the Board Inn. When you’re ready, lessons can include joining and leaving the A19, building speed safely and planning ahead on dual carriageways.
Prepare for your Sunderland driving test
Lessons will help you become familiar with roads around the Sunderland test area, including the area around the test centre.
We’ll practise manoeuvres, following sat nav directions and road signs, and making safe decisions independently. You’ll also learn how to handle unfamiliar roads.
